Laurent Isler transforms archival documentation into distinctive creations through a transfer process. For TRANSFERTS, he photographs nearly every object from the Trucothèque collection, a carefully archived library of machines and devices, mostly produced between 1970 and 2000, all salvaged from local recycling centers. Using xylene, he transfers the toner ink layer from simple laser prints onto virgin paper, creating layered collages that reveal possible temporal strata. These assemblages of sometimes absurd apparatus and machinery circulate in new forms, challenging conventional perspectives and celebrating resourcefulness through discarded materials.
